Hello All!
This week we were having dinner at a members house, and the members have only been members for a few years. They are really the only ones who are members in their extended family. One of the member's moms walked in who is a non-member and the sister was like, "Ok Elders, time for the lesson," even though we just started dinner. The sister winked at me and I caught on to what she was doing. We started the lesson and we taught the restoration, and the whole time the mom was listening intently, and after the message, she told us she wanted to hear more, so we set up a time the next day at the house of the members. We are excited to hopefully be consistently teaching her!
We got a call from a Brother outside of our stake that said his mom has a friend at work whose son is anxious about talking to people comfortably. The Brothers Mom referred her friend and son to us and asked us if we could give him some pointers on talking to people because it's what we do. She also asked that we teach them the gospel. We met up with the mom and boy, with a few tips on talking to people, but how to transition to sharing the gospel, we were unsure of. Turns out as we were talking to the boy about speaking to people, the mom spoke up and told us she was looking for a place that would bring her and her son closer together. We told them about the church and invited them both to come and learn more and they accepted!
There is a man we have been working with for the past couple of weeks, and he has loved reading the Book of Mormon. He is so surprised at the things he learns and feels as he reads. We constantly remind him that is the spirit. He feels that reading the Book of Mormon is preparing him for baptism, which it is! I too love the Book of Mormon as my new friend does. It amazes me too. He is having a hard time coming to church though, so next week we are knocking on his door an hour before church starts to get him there.
This week the primary invited us to class to listen to the songs they are learning for Christmas. We were a motivation to help the kids to sing loud and pay attention. Turns out there was a hidden deal to even further motivate the kids. If the kids sang loud enough, then they could cover us with stickers after they sang the songs. I have never seen children so eager to plaster elders with princess stickers. The kids were so determined to drown us in their stickers, that they literally screamed the words of every song. "Silent Night"? More like "Violent Night". I miss primary.
Transfers are this Wednesday which means we find out tonight where we going, and who we are with! I'm guessing I will be staying and getting a new companion. Should be exciting!
