Hello people!
Just to let you all know, our Friend Ian who had the
train accident, is doing great and is having a speedy recovery. He had
graduated from walker to cane. He had his interview with the bishop this
week to receive the Aaronic Priesthood, and he has already participated
in lessons we have had with other investigators. What a solid dude.
We were tracting and we saw this house what looked like it had a train in their front yard. So of course we knocked on the
house. It was an old couple that lived there. After they made it clear
they were not interested in the gospel, we started asking questions
about the big machine in their yard. They made it clear that it was a
"steam engine", not a train. We started talking about it. They got it
when it was old and broken down, and they restored it, and took it to
the Fair. I asked if they look out their window and see people taking
pictures with it, and they said all the time, and they don't mind. So I
asked if we could take a picture with it and they said of course. We
took some pictures with it and started to walk away, and when we were
doing so, we heard a voice saying "Would you like to see more?" We
looked back and it was the old man that lived there. We said yes, so he
took us to their back yard and gave us a tour of all of their shops full
of old restored tractors. There were so many. He said it's what he
loves to do. They were really nice people, and they had some cool
tractors.
We had dinner with a family from the Philippines, and
their was a curry dish. I took some and I asked what kind of meat was
inside of it, they told me in was spine and tail meat. Tasty, but interesting. It had been so hot this week. Up in the high 80`s low 90`s with
enough humidity to pack a slight punch. If this is what it is like in
May, I can only imagine what July is going to be like.
There is a lady in our ward who turned 74, and she went
to the Amish market for her birthday, got a cheese-cake and shared
it with us. It was so delicious. Her biggest wish is to see a wolf. They
are her favorite animal and she has never seen one before. There is a
wolf sanctuary in Pennsylvania and she is going there to see wolf's for
the first time and get the birthday wish she has been waiting for 74
years. This lady loves wolf's. Almost every shirt she owns has a wolf
on it, she calls them her wolfies.
Probably the highlight of last week was going to the International 🚋🚊Trolley🚊🚋 Museum. It is a little museum ran by
volunteers, kind of in the middle of the forest. There is a little sign
by the side of the road that I have seen for the past 6 months, and I
finally decided to go. It was so cool, they have there own little
trolley ride you can take that does a 2 mile loop. We walked into the
building and the conductor, (I think that what you would call him), said
you are just in time for the 3:50 departure. We took two rides. One
with a small group of people, and one with just us and the conductor. We
got tickets and they punched them and everything. It was really nice.
Afterwards we were the only ones in the museum, so the man gave us our
own little tour around the shop where they keep all the trollies. I
learned a lot about trollies this week.
We have just recently been working with a new lady named
Martha. She came to church and is already being fellow-shipped great by
the ward. She said she got off at work at 10:30, and rushed home, got
ready, and rushed to church. Now that is effort, and I know the Lord
will bless her for that faithful action.
Well, we have done it all this week, from steam engines to trollies, and the Lord's work continues. Toot Toot!
